YYSA Rec League

YYSA hosts recreational games for the U6 through U12 age groups during the Spring and Fall seasons. U6 and U8 games are in house while the U10 age groups and above play games against Yankton, and potentially other area rec teams. Games in Yankton are played at the First Dakota Soccer Park. Coaches are volunteers, assigned after registration ends.

Season Quick Notes

2026 Spring Rec Soccer

Yankton Rec Soccer is open to all players within the allotted birth date ranges.

Fall Registration for Yankton Recreational Soccer starts January 6th and ends March 21st.

EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION : January 6th - January 20. (Save $5 Per Registered Player)
REGULAR PRICED REGISTRATION: ENDS March 14.

If this is your first time registering a player, you will need to create an account. The correct program and age group for your player to sign up in will be available to you once you log into your account.

Returning players, use the same login and password from last year.

Spring Rec Games will start approximately April 11th and expected to end around May 30th

Parents will be contacted about practice times by their respective coaches after registration ends and coaches have been assigned to teams. It generally takes 1-2 weeks to assign coaches post registration. If you have not heard from your coach in a reasonable amount of time AFTER registration has ended, please email YYSA and we will get you in touch with your coach.

US Soccer Age Matrix

YYSA wants to keep all families that are a part of YYSA Recreational and Competitive soccer informed about a significant change coming to youth soccer age group registrations starting with the upcoming 2026-2027 season.

US Youth Soccer, of which YYSA is a member through SDYSA, is shifting from the current calendar birth year system (January 1 – December 31) back to a seasonal/school-year system (August 1 – July 31). This change aims to better align soccer teams with school grade levels, allowing more players to compete alongside their classmates. USYS, US Club, and AYSO are adopting this change, which will impact all events YYSA competitive teams attend starting in the 2026 - 2027 soccer calendar year (August 2026).

The current 2025-2026 YYSA soccer season will remain under the current birth year rules. Starting in fall 2026, the new August 1 – July 31 cutoff will take effect for all YYSA programming.
